Privacy Policy
The City Of Refuge International, Inc. is committed to respecting personal privacy, safeguarding confidential information, ensuring the security of personal information it handles in the course of providing consulting services, and ensuring the security of personal information it holds about its employees, consultants, sub-contractors and clients. The term “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual, including any confidential information about an the City of Refuge International, Inc. employee, consultant, sub-contractor or client. Personal information includes “personal health information.” Personal information does not include contact information, such as the name, title, business address or business telephone number of an employee of an organization.
Many of the City of Refuge International, Inc.’s clients are governed by private-, public-, and/or health-sector specific privacy legislation. While most of this legislation does not impose responsibilities upon the City of Refuge International, Inc., as a matter of policy, the City of Refuge International, Inc. has adopted this Privacy Code as a means to implement privacy standards beyond those legally required by the City of Refuge International, Inc.. To this end, this Privacy Code establishes measures the City of Refuge International, Inc. takes to protect any personal information in the City of Refuge International, Inc.’s custody. The Privacy Code applies when the City of Refuge International, Inc. accesses, modifies, transmits, retains or disposes of personal information. When the City of Refuge International, Inc.’s clients provide the City of Refuge International, Inc. with personal information, the City of Refuge International, Inc. only uses the information for purposes of providing the professional services the client requires. the City of Refuge International, Inc. supports and applies its clients’ privacy policies and procedures with respect to personal information clients provide to the City of Refuge International, Inc.. the City of Refuge International, Inc. hopes that its Privacy Code establishes transparency and accountability with respect to its privacy practices and serves as a source of information to the City of Refuge International, Inc.’s clients regarding what its privacy practices are.
Scope of Privacy Code
This Privacy Code applies to the City of Refuge International, Inc.’s partners, principals, consultants, employees, students and any other individual with whom the City of Refuge International, Inc. shares personal information for purposes of supporting the City of Refuge International, Inc.’s consulting activities. the City of Refuge International, Inc. complies with its Privacy Code at all times. The Privacy Code is to be interpreted in accordance with any federal, provincial and/or territorial privacy statutes that apply to the information in question.
This Privacy Code reflects internationally accepted fair information practices which form the basis for the ten privacy principles of the Canadian Standards Association’s Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information (CAN/CSA-Q830-96), attached as Schedule 1 to the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. The Privacy Code will continue to evolve over time to reflect legislative changes and current best practices in privacy and data protection.
